What’s the scariest thing you seen while playing a video game?

One of the first chapters in Dead Space 1 [SPOILER ALERT]…

…You’re in a short hallway and all of a sudden all of the lights shut off and there’s tons of noises like enemies walking near you, screams, eerie music/sound effects, etc. It lasts for about 15 seconds and nothing bad happens, but the suspense is absolutely terrifying.

The summer of 1999. My parents both worked nights and I would be left alone. I spent that summer holed up in my bedroom either on chat rooms or playing my N64. Our house was out in the woods on a dead end road and my bedroom was upstairs with a slidding glass door. One night I’m playing Turok 64, it’s about 3 am and I get the feeling like I’m being watched. I look over at the glass door and see a man’s face pressed against it just staring at me. I ran out of there so fast that I flew down the stairs and hid in my parents closet. They found me the next morning asleep in there hiding behind some boxes. I told them what happened and when they finally believed me we filed a police report. To this day I can still remember that creeps face pressed up against the glass.
