What is the worst way to die?

Thankfully there’s no proof that this was ever put in practice, but here we go.

Scaphism.

They put people between boats or inside barrels, torso in but extremities out, then feed and cover the victim with sweets such as honey and milk, thus attracting bugs that will slowly eat the person alive as he becomes a putrid mess worthy of being called a living carcass.

So rotting alive, feeling worms and flies burrow deep within your body, all while aimlessly floating in water, helpless to do anything but squirm, knowing all that does is make the bugs wake up again.

Fucked up doesn’t even come close.

Immolation, it’s only a few moments before your system shuts down from the shock, but they’re the most excruciating moments you could possibly imagine

Chinese Bamboo Torture was pretty nuts.

Mythbusters even confirmed that it’s actually possible.

This by far. You’re welcome for the bedtime read!

A Japanese Worker, Hisashi Ouchi, after being exposed to 17 Sv of Radiation. He was exposed to so much radiation his Chromosomes were completely destroyed, but was kept alive for 3 months against his will.

Ouchi’s exposure to the radiation was so severe that his chromosomes were destroyed and his white blood cell count plummeted to near-zero. Most of his body had severe burns and his internal organs received severe damage.

What was cruel was that, he was resuscitated on the 59th day when his heart stopped three times within a period of 49 minutes, despite wishing not to be let to suffer. As his condition worsened, he was transferred to University of Tokyo Hospital and, reportedly, underwent the world’s first transfusion of peripheral stem cells. He was also given many blood transfusions, fluids, and medicine that wasn’t even available in Japan yet.

He also had to undergo several skin transplants which couldn’t help the loss of fluids through pores. After being treated for a week, Ouchi managed to say, “I can’t take it any more… I am not a guinea pig”. However, the doctors kept treating him and taking measures to keep him alive, which only ensured a very slow and very painful death.

Worst way to die is extremely subjective. Anything that results in a prolonged death seems worst (Alzheimer’s, terminal cancer, etc.).

For example, Fatal Familial Insomnia Disease is said to be a horrible way to die. It often starts with mild bouts of inability to sleep, but nearing the end stages the sufferer can’t sleep at all, experiences extreme hallucinations, often is wracked with seizures, and eventually slips into a coma and dies. The worst part of the disease is that you’ll likely not realize that you’re one of the unlucky people who will experience FFI until you’re middle aged.
