I’m not judging you- I think you are hot or I like your outfit. I’m looking because I’m interested in who you are, and I just want to appreciate what you have going on.
Everyone has their own issues and struggles in life. It’s not a competition on whether yours are worse than mine, and even if they are that doesn’t make my issues any less important or valid.
The the “I’m not like other girls”-trope is not only totally against the idea of feminism but also friggin harmful. That gaming chic in sweatpants and hoodie ? Rocks a dress in the evening ! The woman in nine-inch heels and lots of makeup ? Trans rights activist and a highly talented engineer.
No woman is an entirely one-dimensional being, ffs !
How can we expect society to stop forcing us into drawers if we do it ourselves ?
That women can perpetuate toxic masculinity just as much as men do, like expecting their boyfriend to “be a man” or slut shaming their friends. These insults are designed to reinforce gender roles, which is a direct by-product of patriarchy.
That breastfeeding in public isn’t about showing off my boobs to your husband. It’s about feeding my kid in a way that’s comfortable to me and to baby. Which means no cover because they’re hot and uncomfortable and baby is just going to pull it off anyway.
