Domande di Internet

Religious people of Internet, why is it common practice to refer to God as a “him” (not to be sexist or whatever), but wouldn’t it make more sense that God is not of either gender?

Technically, God is spirit, and as such has no gender. However, God is referred to as a male because He created the man first, then the woman. (This is not chauvinism, for any feminists out there) 1 Timothy 2 states that women should not have authority over men. But women can have authority over children and other women (teaching children is one of, if not THE, most important jobs on the planet).

So, to sum up my imperfect explanation, God is referred to as “He,” “Him,” and “Father” because God is the head of all.

I have spoken my piece, you may now proceed to hang me. (:

I’m a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We believe that God is literally our father which is why we refer to as Him. We also believe that Jesus Christ is God’s son who is our Savior so we also refer to as Him.

Because the only gender neutral term is “it”. And referring to God as it probably seems too objectifying.

God made man in His image. He made woman from man. Also, the Bible says He all over the place. Also, God had a son not a daughter.

Men wrote the bible, and woman were second class, so naturally they believe a woman wouldn’t hold such a position and only male could. So they referred god as god the father. People Assume people have to have a gender so god is a Male
