People who have “outdoor cats”, how do you know they’re coming back?

We had a kitty growing up… he’d leave sometimes for days, and always come home smelling like smoked salmon.

Then one day, he comes home with a little pink collar with a heart that said, “Sparkles” on it.

WTF Sparkles you two-timing bastard?

You don’t. I’ve had cats disappear for over a month(out in country). We’d pretty much given up then you walk outside & there they are, looking at you like, “what?”

Cats know where they get fed.

Cats are smart, they dont want that hard knock life

As a kid we had outdoor cats. They didn’t roam far because they knew where dinner was to be found.

Tabby did wander off when she was dying though. She was 14 or 15 and disappeared completely. Weeks later someone in the neighbourhood found her corpse, she’d gone under their house to die. No evidence of violence (in hindsight, she probably had cancer).
