Not a parent, but I’ve always known I’ve hated my mother. She still thinks I love her for some reason, even though she hasn’t really been apart of my life outside of financial responsibilities and food. Tried to stay close to home to finish school, but living at/near home became too stressful for me.

I hear you. Sometimes people will only learn from bad consequences. Hopefully at some point it will get through and he’ll do the work.
not a parent but let me tell you my older brother is a butt and my parents refuse to acknowledge it. he’s messy, gross, irresponsible and still throws temper tantrums. on top of it he has anger issues but my mom refused to acknowledge that as well because he’s a “golden” child. like once he went on a bike ride and i locked the door because he was gone for about 40 minutes and he got super mad and tried to lock me out.
