So my incompetent boss has the habit of emotional outburst during our one to one meetings whenever he encounters problems. Thing is he expects us to be friends but the fact is that I don't want to. I try to avoid him at all cost because he only makes matter worse and talks too much. He recently got into an awkward situation where he felt that he wasn't respected and welcome as a manager with another senior colleague. He was obviously emotionally affected which ended with a one hour session with me with him venting and aggressively demanding me to rate him as a manager. It made me uncomfortable. And He would bring up issues (non-work related) from the past that we already had many discussions over and resolved (at least I thought it did). I'm getting really sick and tired of him being unable to manage emotions and projecting his frustrations on me. Fact is many on the team don't respect him and is impacting him emotionally and he's venting it on me. He kept saying that there's a communication breakdown but when I asked him to elaborate or provide an example he couldn't. Do you think going to HR helps?
