Granted, all wishes granted no longer have side effects, for wishes granted by evil genies and other means everything changes, however Monkey’s Paw wishes do not change at all as they have no “side effects” side effects only happen after their source. This makes sense with genie wishes where the bad things happen after the fulfillment of the wish, with a monkey’s paw there is no side effect because the bad thing is ALWAYS the means by which the wish was fulfilled. For example, a guy wishes to a genie for money, the money appears in his hands and then later he is investigated for bank robbery that’s a side effect, it’s impossible for a genie wish to operate in that manner, as with the original story, a man wishes for money, nothing happens, and day later he gets the money as compensation for his son’s death. Let’s say you take a Benadryl and getting drowzy, that’s a side effect. Let’s say that the pill was made from the bones of babies, that’s a monkey’s paw, it’s not a side effect, it’s how the pill was made.
